Share what you are learning..

The story of Eli and his sons in 1 Samuel 2 and 3 is really profound to me. Eli the priest was a godly man, yet he failed to discipline his sons. Ultimately, this led to judgement on his entire family and the death of his two sons. (2:25) While at times it's really painful to discipline our children, it is imperative that we instruct our kids in holiness and reverence of the Lord and the consequences of disobedience to His laws.

Please share what YOU are learning....

Ive been "cross reference" reading with my "walk bible" and my "exploring God study bible" and Ive made some notes that stand out to me:
Ruth 1:20, 21 God allows bad things to happen to good people.. as He works in their lives.

Samuel: The Lord has a message for Samuel, in His dream...More than that, bc Samuel was willing, God called him to be a special person. God communicates with His people in dreams, through friends and of course, through scripture, but He can communicate any way he desires!
And I love how God "opened Hannah's womb," when such obedience and dedication was so profound with her wanting a son!

I hope my life is lived in the shadow of the will of God, Dont you?
Ive missed hearing from everyone...tell us all what you are learning!!!

It is sobering to read how quickly a generation will fall away from God. The parents can be Godly and upright, like Eli, or David, and then have sons who completely turn away. What happened?! How do we instruct our children so they will love the Lord with all their hearts?

I'm so far behind! But will try hard to read I Samuel and Ruth.
I'm reminded in Ruth that God sets us in families who otherwise would have none. (Your God will be my God; Your people will be my people).
And in Samuel- I couldn't imagine having dropped my children at someone's door between the ages of 2-3 and entrusting another person with their spiritual development. It reminds me that we need to lean on one another in good times and bad in the rearing of our children. I'm glad the word encourages us to seek out mentors and sometimes be mentors (Titus 2:5) in our children's development.
And most of all, the God, my Father will give me wisdom when I seek Him. See everyone Thursday;
Love and Care, Bari
